Christies to Lose….
When my alarm went off at 5:00 this morning I heard the wind outside the window of the rental house on Monkey Island on the banks of Grand Lake where I have been staying this week during the Bassmasters Classic event.
My first thought was, “This will be either good for the guys or its going to totally freak some out.” On the docks this morning, Elite Series Pro David Walker confirmed the thoughts rattling around the back of my little brain. “This is Christies to lose….” Walker said. “He’s got a good handled on things, he has a good lead but honestly, this is his tournament to lose.”
I asked a few Pro’s on Media day if they thought an angler could lead this thing wire-to-wire. Not a single one of them said yes. Greg Hackney was one of the few who mentioned the weather and the warming trend each day and each night and how this tournament was a hair away of breaking wide open.
Is Jason Christie due? There is no doubt that he is one of the hottest Bass fisherman on the planet.
No doubt.
But out of the Top Ten hitters sitting at the dock this morning the nerves of anglers in places 2 -10 were loose and relaxed.
Everyday is different, and everyday is the same, but this is bass fishing, nothing stays the same.
Weigh-in is coming, A Champ will be crowned, will it be an Oklahoma Native or will another rise from the ashes?
Stay Tuned.
