“I honestly couldn’t even say what I’m going to do tomorrow,” said Hackney admiting that his local knowledge could hurt him. “I know too many places. Should i go here? Should I go there? The lake is full of fish.”

So far, Hackney has used his experience on the lake to build a 3-day total weight of 56-8.

In addition to ‘localitis’ Hackney will have to fend off angling legend Rick Clunn who moved into 2nd today on the strength of a 19-8 sack. Clunn is now less than a pound behind with 55-11.

Red-hot Keith Combs climbed a notch to 3rd with a total of 54-3 and is 2 pounds, 5 ounces off the lead.

Clunn says that, while Dardanelle may be full of fish, the right size bass come in limited quantities. “You can’t fish for 20, 30 or 40 bites a day. Those are the wrong fish. You’ve got to give up bites to get the good ones. Seven to 10 bites is absolutely the correct thing to be doing.”
