Tharp Takes Early Lead In Flw Major On Beaver

Randall Tharp holds a 12-ounce lead over Jacob Powroznik in the FLW Tour Major on Beaver Lake. That may not sound like much of a cushion, but given the light weights anticipated at this nearly-annual FLW Tour stop, it looks like a big lead.

It’s hard to separate yourself when big bites are so scarce. Only 2 pounds, 3 ounces separate 1st place from 10th.

Tharp’s bass weighed 15 pounds, 7 ounces.

Powroznik’s weighed 14-11.

Tharp is doing something different in some odd places. He has taken precautions to not be seen for very long in any one place. He cut his practice days short in order to avoid being seen. He ran way up the river and fished down lake as well. Tharp had a limit by 8:15 this morning and said 4 of those fish came in the first 15 minutes of his day.
