Mike Stephens and Brian New toughed out the wind and over 80 other teams to win the First Annual Anglers @ USC Bass Open. Stephens is no stranger to success on Lake Wylie this year. After he and his teammate won the Carolinas Bass Classic on Wylie earlier this month, Stephens–with a different teammate this time–stuck to a similar pattern during the March 16 tournament out of Buster Boyd Landing. The team fished mostly shallow water with a variety of lures, caught “9 or 10” total fish, and beat the field with a 5-bass limiit weighing 18.25 lbs.
