Stacey King steps away from FLW Tour to concentrate on cancer treatment

Veteran pro Stacey King of Reeds Spring, MO was enjoying a good season on the FLW Tour. He was 26th in Angler of the Year points after posting 3 Top 30 appearances in the first 4 events.

King will miss the last 2 tournaments because he needs to undergo cancer treatment. “They are going to take out my tonsils and also take 3 biopsies,” said King. “There’s a chance the cancer could be in my tonsils, but they’ll be able to tell more after I’ve had the operation.”

Early detection is always important when battling cancer. King’s wake-up call came in the form of swollen lymph nodes about 6 months ago which eventually lead to CT scans and biopsies.

Much is still unknown at this point, but we at AnglersChannel.com wish Stacey a successful and speedy treatment cycle and we certainly hope to see him on the water again in 2015.
