Ryan Ingram Takes Home $10K in American Bass Anglers Area 3 Championship on Eufaula!

Ryan Ingram won the American Bass Anglers Ram Truck Open Series Area 3 Championship tournament, held September 23RD & 24TH, 2017 on Lake Eufaula. Running out of Lakepoint Resort State Park in Eufaula, Ryan caught five bass on day one weighing 23.10 pounds including a 6.90-poind kicker. On day two, Ingram weighed in another five-bass limit that weighed 17.12 pounds and that sealed the deal for his victory by almost a five-pound margin with a total weight of 40.22 pounds. For the Boater Division victory, Ingram took home a check for $10,000 for his win and an additional $750 for Big Bass.

“On day one, I thought I could catch about 15 to 16 pounds but I had two big bites, just random bites. I caught most of my fish on a crankbait and the 6.90-pound big bass on a one-ounce StrikeZone Lure Ledgebuster spinnerbait. I caught most of my fish mid-lake on day one and on day two, I fished all the way to the dam on the lower end of the lake.”  Ingram said.

In second for the boaters, Dustin Wood of Eufaula, AL landed two five-bass tournament limits totaling 35.52 pounds. He collected $1300 for his catch.

“I caught my fish on day one also on a StrikeZone Lure Ledgebuster spinnerbait and a StrikeZone Lure Ledgebuster Sling Blade spinnerbait with a few modifications I made to it. I caught a few cranking on day one. On day two, I had to slow down and I caught my fish dragging a football jig and scraped by with what I got. Just got lucky.”  Wood said.

Anthony Goggins of Clanton, AL placed third for the boaters with two five-bass tournament limits totaling 32.99 pounds. He earned $900 for his catch.

“I caught my fish shallow early and then went off-shore later in the day trying to catch a big one. I lost two good fish on day one and one-really good fish on day two that would have helped me.” Goggins said.

In fourth place among the boaters, Chandler Ray of Arlington, GA brought in two five-bass limits totaling 29.75 pounds. Ken Greene of Lumpkin, GA finished in fifth place with two five-bass limits totaling 27.16 pounds.

In the Co-Angler Division, Richard Hudson of Ramer, AL won with a total of five bass that weighed 15.54 pounds with a 5.94-pound kicker that was caught on day two. He pocketed a check for $5,000 for his win and $210 for the big bass.

“I was fishing a frog from daylight until weigh-in both days, and I’m tired of looking at one. I want to thank my day one boater for giving me that frog and I caught every fish I weighed in on that frog. We fished around mid-lake both days fishing Lilly pads in the morning and grass in the afternoon.”  Hudson said.

Taking second for the co-anglers, Robert Enke of Columbus, GA brought in two three-bass limits totaling 13.34 pounds. He collected $350 for the effort.

“I fished clean both days and I caught my fish on a shaky-head and a jig.” Enke said. “

Sam Fish of Alexander City, AL placed third among the co-anglers with two three-bass limits totaling 13.12 pounds. He earned $300 for his catch.

“I caught my fish on day one Carolina-rigging shallow points backed off the Lilly pads. We probably caught 75 fish but they just weren’t the quality fish that we needed for this event. On day two, I drew out with a boater that was fishing Lilly pads with frogs and buzz baits. I had five bites today and caught every fish that bit. I had one fish that was deceased, so Robert (Enke) got a little more money than I did. I do want to thank Boyd Duckett and Duckett Fishing, they sponsor me and I recommend them for anyone that wants a good rod to go frog fishing.” Fish said.

In fourth place among the co-anglers, Barry Jones of Verbena, AL brought in two three- bass limits totaling 11.31 pounds. Hunter DuBose of Andalusia, AL finished in fifth place with two three-bass limits totaling 10.99 pounds.
