Piedmont Bass Classics Results – Kerr/Buggs Island – April 16, 2011
Great turnout on a day the weatherman was calling for some dangerous weather!!…43 boats! Luckily at Kerr, we didn’t get any bad weather until right at the end of the weigh-in. We had, what I would call, a thunderstorm at that time. We all heard what had happened to other areas in the State on the way home, and our hearts and prayers go out to the ones affected. Michael Hatley, one of our 1st place winners, found out after the event, that his girlfriend had lost her Father to the tornado in Fayetteville. Our prayers are with that family. It was a rough day for the State and we were very lucky not to have been affected that much at Kerr.
135 bass were weighed for a total of 360 pounds. Mortality: 3 bass. Water temps ranged from 57 to 58 and air temps ranged from 55 to 70 with winds ranging from light to 25 mph gusts. Big fish for the day was 4.54 pounds. 3 others over 4 pounds were also weighed.
1st Place team of Michael Hatley & Tanner Phillips, caught most of their fish in a ‘secret spot’ fishing in 1 to 4′ of water, using Senkos. Bass were hitting almost anything that was thrown at them. Evidently, the fronts coming in got the fish in a feeding mood. Everyone caught fish and I’m glad to report that these fish looked a lot healthier than last year. They had some meat on their bones and were very strong looking. I hope the ‘bass sickness’ is just about over in this great lake!
Once again, I want to thank our sponsors. Without their support we could not be offering the $5,000 Trail. The next PBC tournament will be at Falls Lake on Saturday April 30th. This event will be the 5th Qualifying tournament of the Piedmont Bass Classics $5,000 Bass Tournament Trail. Also on the 30th will be the 3rd qualifying tournament for our new ‘Adult/Youth Future’s Trail & the 22nd Annual Tobacco Bass Invitational tournament. I hope to see all of you at Falls on the 30th!
