Great turnout on a day the weatherman was calling for wind gusts up to 50 mph!!…65 boats! It was the toughest day for our anglers and weighin crew that I’ve experienced in 27 years. The winds were just plain ‘brutal’. However, 137 bass were weighed for a total of 389 pounds. Mortality: 3 bass. Water temps ranged from 50 to 55 and air temps ranged from 39 to 67 with winds ranging from light to 50 mph gusts. Big fish for the day was 7.42 pounds. 3 others over 7 pounds along with several 6 pound bass were also weighed.

1st Place team of Steven Woodlief & Ted Boyette, caught most of their fish in the clearer water down river towards the Falls Dam. Boyette said most of their fish came on ‘Carolina Rigs’ in 8 foot of water off points. Evidently, all the rain brought cooler water in the lake and backed the fish off the banks. The bass are still in the pre-spawn mode. Warmer weather will definitely set these lakes in our area on fishing-fire!

Once again, I want to thank our sponsors. Without their support we could not be offering the $5,000 Trail. The next PBC tournament will be at Falls Lake on Saturday April 9th. This event will be an ‘Open Fun’ tournament. Also on the 9th will be the 1st qualifying tournament for our new ‘Adult/Youth Future’s Trail and an ‘Open Crappie’ tournament.

The next ‘Piedmont Bass Classics $5,000 Bass Tournament Trail’ event (qualifier #4) will be at Kerr Lake April 16th. I hope to see all of you at Falls on the 9th!
