GROVE, Okla. (Sept. 28, 2026) – Boater Adam Boehle of Warrenton, Missouri, caught a total of 10 bass weighing 32 pounds, 13 ounces, over two days to win the MLF Phoenix Bass Fishing League (BFL) Presented by T-H Marine on Grand Lake Presented by Suzuki Marine. The tournament, hosted by the City of Grove, was the fifth and final event of the season for the BFL Okie Division. Boehle earned $13,100, including a $7,000 Phoenix bonus, for his victory.

Trolling motor battery issues plagued Boehle during the tournament, and he limped along Saturday after starting the day with a 10 percent battery charge. It didn’t faze him too badly, however, as he caught 10 keepers, all on a jig, to head into Day 2 with the lead after weighing 18 pounds, 1 ounce.

“On Day 2 I got my trolling motor batteries to 30 percent overnight,” Boehle said. “I caught one on a topwater early and then went fishing the jig the rest of the day and caught probably 15 keepers.”

Boehle said he fished the jig from 2 to 20 feet deep from Wolf Creek Park to the dam and fished “a little bit of everything,” including docks, brush and rocks.

“I practiced on Friday and found a couple of spots I had confidence in; I just didn’t know the size of fish I could catch,” Boehle said. “And with the trolling motor issues I didn’t even know if I’d be fishing Sunday.

“My favorite time of year to fish is fall. I’ve been trying to win a fall Super Tournament for 10 years,” Boehle went on to say. “I always fall short. I just led the Ozark Division Super Tournament the first day and fell short, so it’s nice to finally get the tournament win that I have been chasing for the last 10 years.”

Cade Smith of McAlester, Oklahoma, earned the Berkley Big Bass Boater award after landing a 6-pound, 2-ounce bass worth $300.

Thad Hewitt of Delaware, Oklahoma, won the co-angler division and the top prize of $3,300 Sunday after bringing six bass to the scale that totaled 19 pounds, 15 ounces.

Russell Malone of Grove, Oklahoma, earned the Berkley Big Bass co-angler award after landing a 5-pound, 10-ounce bass worth $150.

With all five events in the division now complete, boater Trenton Underwood of Pocola, Oklahoma, won the 7 Brew Okie Division Angler of the Year (AOY) race with 1,290 points and earned the $1,000 prize, while Thad Hewitt of Delaware, Oklahoma, won the Okie Division Co-Angler of the Year race with 1,322 points and earned the $500 payout.

The top 45 boaters and co-anglers in the division based on point standings, along with the five tournament winners of each qualifying event, will qualify for the Oct. 15-17 BFL Regional tournament on Kentucky-Barkley Lake in Calvert City, Kentucky. Boaters will fish for a top award of a new Phoenix 819 Pro with a 200-horsepower Mercury or Suzuki outboard worth $50,000, while co-anglers will compete for a top prize of a new Phoenix 518 pro with a 115-horsepower Mercury or Suzuki outboard, worth $33,500.

The 2026 Phoenix BFL Presented by T-H Marine is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, with 128 events throughout the season, five qualifying tournaments in each division. The top 45 boaters and co-anglers from each division, along with the five qualifying tournament winners, will advance to one of six BFL Regional tournaments where they are competing to finish in the top seven, which then qualifies them for one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American. The 2027 BFL All-American will take place June 5-7, at the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes in Kissimmee, Florida, and is hosted by Experience Kissimmee.
