With the help of Abu Garcia, the LPFF is giving college and high school anglers alike a chance at a future in fishing.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (Nov 21, 2023) – The Logan Parks Fishing Foundation, founded by Bassmaster Elite Series rookie Logan Parks, recently hosted their inaugural High School/College Chaos Tournament presented by Abu Garcia on Lake Martin, Alabama. With 168 anglers, 84 from college and 84 from high school, the Logan Parks Fishing Foundation paid out 150% of the entry fees, giving out over $175,000 in cash, scholarships, and prizes to the competing anglers.
The event took place Wednesday, November 8th to Sunday, November 12th in Auburn, Alabama, giving high school anglers the opportunity to showcase their talent and allowing a platform for college teams to scout the next generation of fishing stars. This tournament was run through the Fishing Chaos App and it allowed high school and college anglers a unique, competitive fishing experience on Lake Martin.
During the event, 1,618 fish were caught, photographed, submitted, and judged through the Fishing Chaos app. As the dust settled and each submission became final, the top three teams became clear. Coming in third place with a Championship round total of 16.4 pounds was Carson Maddux of Auburn University and Brayden Tisdale of Opp High School. Coming in second, 1.3 pounds heavier with a Championship round total of 17.7 pounds was Brody Robison of the University of Montevallo and Max Plemmons of Plainview High School. Leading the pack and winning the event with a dominating Championship round total of 29.78 pounds, Brooks Anderson of Emmanuel College and Rooksby Gordon of American Christian Academy.
“I couldn’t imagine any reason why a high school angler wouldn’t be all over an opportunity like this,” said Auburn University angler, Jake Peck. “To be able to meet college anglers that are a few years ahead of you in the process, and build connections with teams and coaches – it’s an incredible opportunity for any high school angler who wants to pursue bass fishing at the next level.”
The Logan Parks Fishing Foundation, whose mission is to empower the future of competitive anglers by nurturing the talents of high school and college anglers, was very pleased with the turnout from this event. Rooted from a deep commitment to giving back to the fishing community and encouraging growth within the sport, this event truly gave back to the anglers who will become the future of competitive bass fishing.
