Livingston’s Reagan Claims First BFL Win at Phoenix Bass Fishing League Event at Dale Hollow Lake Presented by Precision Sonar
BYRDSTOWN, Tenn. (Oct. 5, 2026) – Boater Rex Reagan of Livingston, Tennessee, caught a total of 10 bass weighing 38 pounds, 5 ounces, over two days to win the MLF Phoenix Bass Fishing League (BFL) Presented by T-H Marine on Dale Hollow Lake Presented by Precision Sonar . The tournament, hosted by Star Point Resort, was the fifth and final event of the season for the BFL Mountain Division. Reagan earned $3,080 for his victory.
“I didn’t get a chance to practice, so I just fished off of history and went to where I have always caught them,” the 18-year-old Reagan said. “I knew I was going to (Garmin Live)’Scope for the first three hours, and I pulled up on a place where I figured there would be fish – there had been fish there every time for the past three or four years.
“I caught a 4½-pounder, and then another 4½-pounder pretty quick,” Reagan went on to say. “Then I caught three more over 3 pounds and it put me where I needed to be in a pretty short period of time.”
Reagan’s bait of choice during his LiveScope period was a Rapala Crush City Freeloader. He also added a few fish on a spinnerbait upriver, but his main money bait was the Freeloader.
Reagan caught five bass pretty quickly on Day 2, then added a 4-pounder that culled a smaller fish to put him at 18-13 for the day. He had an idea that a win was a possibility, but didn’t get his hopes up.
“Anything is possible and there’s some big fish swimming out there,” Reagan said. “It wouldn’t have surprised me if someone had come in with 20 or 21 pounds.
“I haven’t fished many BFLs,” Reagan added. “I’m always fishing high school tournaments. But I wanted to win a BFL, and it feels great to get one. Now I just want number 2.”
