Ken McNeill & Thomas Sheffer win the PBC Summer Trail Championship
Irene threw us a curve ball Saturday, so we decided to go to Sunday to have the event. The Summer Trail Championship was a great success at Jordan! 12 qualified teams vied for the $2,640 1st place prize. 36 bass were weighed in for a total of 109 pounds. Water temps averaged 80 and air temps ranged from 70 to 88 with winds ranging from light to 10 mph during the day.
Big fish for the day was 6.16 pounds landed by the team of Todd & Jeff Sumner. All anglers received a free meal from the Q-Shack in Durham.
Ken McNeill & Thomas Sheffer took top honors. They won with 5 bass weighing 19.83 lbs! The hurricane stirred up the water at Jordan, adding oxygen to the water and dropping the surface temps by almost 10 degrees. Ken & Thomas caught only 1 fish deep and the rest came from 1 to 2 feet of water! One was even caught on a buzzbait. The rest were caught on T-rigs, crankbaits and spinnerbaits. Ken & Thomas also won the TWT and added another $245 to their winnings for a combined total of $2,885 !! Great job for a team that has worked so hard to get better at the great sport of bass fishing!
The 2011 $5,000 Piedmont Bass Classics Fall Trail will begin Sunday, September 11th, at Falls Lake out of Ledge Rock Wildlife Ramp.
