31 keepers were brought to the scales weighing in at a total of 81 pounds! Several other teams had fish but decided not to weigh in after they saw the leader board. Hal Abshire of Cameron & Ethan Cox of West End had 5 bass that weighed 15.91 pounds, winning the 1st place prize of $1,700 along with the 1st Place TWT worth $315, for a grand total of $2,015! The 4 top teams weighing in were within ounces of tying or winning! It was really close!

The day started with 34 degrees at blastoff, and about 59 degrees at the weighin. The winds were blowing out of the NE at around 10 mph all day. Most fish were caught in 2 to 18 feet of water. Hot baits for the day were spinnerbaits, jerk baits and RatLTraps and Shaky Heads.  Water temps were around 59 degrees. The Big Fish weighed in at 7.73 pounds! A great big thank you goes out to John Ballard, owner of JB Custom Rods in Dunn, for supporting our trail. I want to thank all the anglers that participated and that supported our trails in 2012. You guys & girls are the greatest!

Good job guys.

Our 2013 tournament programs will begin February 16th at Shearon Harris. The Boats Unlimited NC Team Tournament Bass Trail will be the main event for the Spring and will feature an 8 tournament payout of over $100,000 in cash and prizes based on an average of 80 boats in each event. We averaged 62 boats this past Spring, so 80 boats with what Boats Unlimited is adding to the payout should be no problem! We also will have a mini-trail worked in on the dates where the Boats Unlimited Trail is idle. We also have plans for an Open at Hyco Lake! 2013 is looking to be a great year for our sponsors and trails! I’ll keep everyone posted on the web.
