Day 2 of the Cabela’s Collegiate Big Bass Bash at Kentucky Lake, Paris, TN, started off cool with clear, bluebird skies as 189 collegiate anglers went through take-off, all excited to bring in the biggest bass they could catch for a chance to win tons of prizes.  Early reports were given that the fish were biting extremely well from most accounts.  Though as the day went on, they had to do some adjusting from their morning strategy as the weather turned cloudy and bass were moving up shallow in the afternoon.

Anglers reported a lot of morning catches using the A-rig and later afternoon bites tended to be either a jerk bait or square bill crank bait, and then the occasional favorite black and blue jig.  They seemed to be catching them better on day 2 and this may have been contributed to the front moving in.

Midway into Session 1, Jay Emmert from University of Tennessee-Knoxville came to the scales and weighed in an 8.85 pound bass that he caught on an A-rig and became that session’s leader, as well as overall tournament leader.  And that 8.85 pounds held all day with the next closest bass on day 2 being a 6.72 pound bass brought in by Austin Keeton from Calhoun Community College.

1st – Jay Emmert, University of Tennessee-Knoxville – 8.85 pounds

2nd – Ty Dyer, Bethel University – 7.42 pounds

3rd – Cody Santel, Murray State – 6.84 pounds

4th – Austin Keeton, Calhoun Community College – 6.72 pounds

5th – Zach Parker, Bethel University – 6.62 pounds
