HAUGHTON HIGH SCHOOL WINS BASS PRO SHOPS FLW HIGH SCHOOL FISHING TOLEDO BEND RESERVOIR OPEN

MANY, La. (Nov. 6, 2018) – The Haughton High School duo of Jase White of Haughton, Louisiana, and Cole Golden of Adner, Louisiana, brought a five-bass limit to the scale Sunday weighing 14 pounds, 11 ounces to win the 2018 Bass Pro Shops FLW High School Fishing Toledo Bend Lake Open.

A field of 49 teams competed in the no-entry-fee tournament, which launched from Cypress Bend Park. In FLW/TBF High School Fishing competition, the top 10-percent of teams competing advance to the High School Fishing National Championship.

The top four teams on Toledo Bend Lake that advanced to the 2019 High School Fishing National Championship were:

1st:          Haughton High School, Haughton, La. – Jase White, Haughton, La., and Cole Golden, Adner, La., five bass, 14-11

2nd:         Benton High School, Benton, La. – Peyton Grantham, Benton, La., and Tanner Underwood, Bossier City, La., five bass, 12-15

3rd:          Benton High School, Benton, La. – Hunter Sanford and William Tew, both of Bossier City, La., five bass, 11-7

4th:          Ruston High School, Ruston, La. – Zachary McMillan and Julianna McMillan, both of Choudrant, La., five bass, 11-1

Rounding out the top 10 teams were:

5th:          Many High School, Many, La. – Cooper Miller, Many, La., and Jacob Cosenza, Marthaville , La., five bass, 9-14

6th:          Tioga High School, Rapides Parish, La. – Dominick Whatley, Colfax, La., and Rylon Ganey, Pineville, La., five bass, 9-2

7th:          Harleton High School, Harleton, Texas – Mattheson Wright, Diana, Texas, and Jacob Holder, Marshall, Texas, four bass, 8-5

8th:          Captain Shreve High School, Shreve, La. – Clayton Page, Keithville, La., and Keegan Fort, Shreveport, La., four bass, 8-2

9th:          Pineville High School, Pineville, La. – Grant Cooper and Trusten Holy, both of Pineville, La., four bass, 7-14

10th:        Sterlington High School, Monroe, La. – Caden Johnson and Cameron Spence, both of Monroe, La., four bass, 6-13

The 2018 Bass Pro Shops FLW High School Fishing Toledo Bend Reservoir Open was a two-person (team) event for students in grades 7-12, open to any Student Angler Federation (SAF) affiliated high school club in the United States. The top 10 percent of each Challenge, Open and state championship field will advance to the 2019 High School Fishing National Championship on a body of water that has yet to be revealed. The High School Fishing national champions will each receive a $5,000 college scholarship to the school of their choice.

In addition to the High School Fishing National Championship, all High School Fishing anglers nationwide automatically qualify for the world’s largest open high school bass tournament, the 2019 High School Fishing World Finals, held in conjunction with the National Championship. At the 2018 World Finals more than $150,000 in scholarships and prizes were awarded.
