39 teams showed up for the 3rd qualifying tournament of the 2013 CBS Quality Cars NC Triangle Area Team Bass Spring Mini Trail. It was a cool morning at blastoff with temps of 50 and wind at 10 to 15. It almost felt like it was gonna snow again!! The wind finally calmed down after blastoff and it turned out to be a nice day! Highs for the day were in the low 70’s.

Matt Lucey and Nathan Reeves took 1st place honors with 5 bass weighing 15.88 lbs. They won 1st place money of $965 and $385 for 1st place TWT for a grand total of $1,350. Jerry Marshburn & Rick Ohlson (15.27 lbs.) won 2nd place, 2nd place TWT & 2nd place big fish for a total of $808. Big fish for the day was caught by the team of Michael & Steve Hatley weighing 4.86 lbs. The big fish were in the shallows.117 fish were weighed in for a total weight of 281 pounds. Most fish were caught in shallow water mainly flipping plastics & jigs and some were caught on spinnerbaits. Water temps ranged from 58 to 67 degrees. The bass that were weighe d in looked as pretty and healthy as we’ve seen in the last 5 years! All the females looked to be in the prespawn period and full of roe. Looks like Kerr is coming back to life! I want to thank all the anglers that participated and that support this trail.

Our next trail tournament will be the Boats Unlimited NC Team Tournament Bass Trail Qualifier #5 at Kerr

Lake, Saturday April 27th, out of Flemingtown Wildlife Ramp. We only have 3 qualifiers left, so teams that

have fished only 1 qualifier need to fish these last 3 to be eligible to fish the Championship at Falls, June 22nd.

This is also an Open tournament for those that just want to fish.
