Fishing For a Prayer Benefit Tournament – High Rock Results – Apr. 9, 2011
This past Saturday’s “Fishing for a Prayer” benefit tournament at High Rock Lake had a good turnout with a total of 33 teams coming out to try their luck. Southern Championship Fishing was proud to host the event that benefitted 6-year-old Angel Thompson. Angel, who suffers from complications stemming from a brain tumor, felt well enough to join us at the weigh in! She did a fantastic job helping weigh in some of the fish too! Despite the chilly and windy conditions on the lake, Justin Goodyear and Chad Poteat took 1st Place with a 26.22 lb. bag and took home the $1,000 guaranteed pot. A 23.48 lb. bag brought in by Joey Musgrave Jeff Young took 2nd Place, walking away with $500 in prize money. Michael Coley and Jacob Coley wrangled up 23.04 lbs.. good enough for a 3rd Place finish. They Coley’s also won the $330 Big Fish Pot with a massive 7.26 lb. hog. 4th Place went to John Barringer and Jason Hathcock. They came to the scales with 20.66 lbs. Coming in just a few ounces less.. at 20.36 lbs. were the 5th Place finishers Jeremi Beathy and Rob Wright. The pair were also very close to a Big Fish win with a 7.24 lb. bass. Coming in 6th, with 19.40 lbs., was Kyle Whisnant. Thanks so much for everyone who came out to fish and watch the event. We’d also like to thank eveyone who donated a little extra to Angel and her family… Through your generosity we were able to give them more than $2,300 to help with medical expenses. We hope to see you all again soon!
