GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. (Sept. 28, 2026) – The High School Fishing team of James Monson and Greyson Price, representing Spain Park High School of Hoover, Alabama, brought five bass to the scale Saturday weighing 20 pounds, 1 ounce to win the MLF Abu Garcia High School Fishing Presented by Tackle Warehouse Open on Lake Guntersville Presented by Columbia PFG in Guntersville, Alabama.

The no-entry fee tournament was hosted by Marshall County Tourism and Sports. In MLF Abu Garcia High School Fishing competition, the top 10% of teams competing advance to the High School Fishing National Championship.

The top six teams that now advance to the 2027 High School Fishing National Championship are:

1st:         Spain Park High School, Hoover, Ala. – James Monson and Greyson Price, five bass, 20-1
2nd:       St. Amant High School, St. Amant, La. – Barritt Babin and Hunter Lambert, five bass, 19-9
3rd:        Heard County High School, Franklin, Ga. – Colby Senn and Ellis Turner, five bass, 18-9
4th:         Forsythe Central High School, Cumming, Ga. – Christian Giampietro and Joshua Woodcock, five bass, 18-7
5th:         DAR Patriots Fishing Club, Grant, Ala. – Ethan Edwards and James Morrison, five bass, 18-5
6th:         Mortimer Jordan High School, Kimberly, Ala. – Parker McCoy and Blaze Sullivan, five bass, 16-8                          

Rounding out the Top 10 teams were:

7th:         Mary Persons High School, Forsythe, Ga. – Grayson Dorsey and Leighton Hamrick, five bass, 16-4
8th:         North Forsythe High School, Cumming, Ga. – Colton Hitchcock and James Pierce, four bass, 14-12
9th:         Grissom High School, Huntsville, Ala. – Jacob McKinnon and Parker Salvail, five bass, 14-7
10th:      Guntersville High School Bass Club, Guntersville, Ala. – Oliver Skidmore and Hudson Skidmore, five bass, 14-5

MLF Abu Garcia High School Fishing presented by Tackle Warehouse tournaments are free, two-person (team) events for students in grades 7-12 and are open to any MLF and TBF Student Angler Federation-affiliated high school club.
