Jason Wilson and Kelly Logan are leading the points, thanks to three top 15 finishes in the four tournaments held so far. Thomas Hardwick and Tommy Williams are second, also with three top 15s, but one of them was a first place, recorded on Lake Norman in the season opener in February.

Close behind are Roger Hoover and Scott Hamrick, third in the points with two top 20 finishes, including a 3^rd on Lake Wylie in March; 4^th, Jeremi Beatty and Clint Benbow, with three top 20s; and rounding out the top five are Wayne Ingram and Chris Brown, with only one top 20 finish, but they were an example of consistency with two 45^th place finishes and one 44^th place.

But there are other teams down the line that could take the points title with a strong finish on High Rock, Collins said.

“With this being a double-points tournament a lot can change,” he said. “Fishing has been up and down recently on High Rock, taking 16 to 22 pounds to win there. Fish are both deep and on the docks, but with the heat coming on this week fishing may be tough.”

Following High Rock the North Carolina Division Championship will be held on Lake Wylie Oct. 10, with first place trailering home a 2015 Skeeter TZX190 with a 150 Yamaha HPD1, valued at $30,000.

All the teams who enter the N.C. Division Championship at Wylie will be eligible to fish the 2015 CBC Classic on Clarks Hill Oct. 23, Collins said.

Collins said the CBC is having a banner year, with a lot of new teams joining and membership numbers up over previous years. A big reason is the money involved, with the opportunity for a major payday at every tournament, he added.

“Multiple teams have won over $10,000 and the Skeeter Bonus Dollars the CBC offers on top of the Skeeter Real Money has been a huge addition,” Collins said. “This year we have been paying back the $5,000 at each event in three places – $2,500, $1,500 and $1,000.”

Collins said teams are also fishing for a chance to make the 2016 Bassmaster Classic.

“We will also send another big number of teams to the Bassmaster Team Championship on Lake Guntersville later this year. Last year we sent 22 teams and it looks to be about the same this year,” he said.

“We plan to have the 2016 schedule done by the South Carolina Division championship in September and we are going to swap the lakes around some, so the schedule will not be in the order it was the past few years,” he said. “We will also be awarding three brand new Skeeters in 2016.”
