Trey “The Kid” McKinney Takes Home Yamaha Power Pay Bonus
Southern Illinois Yamaha pro, Trey McKinney became the youngest ever Bassmaster Elite Series winner Sunday at Lake Fork, Texas with an amazing four-day total of 130 pounds of bass. Shortly after sharing the trophy presentation on stage with his parents, the 19-year-old phenom told reporters he hadn’t eaten anything all day.
So, nobody is quite sure exactly what’s fueling his unmatched youthful dominance from a nutritional standpoint, but it’s certain his decision to power his Bass Cat boat with a Yamaha 250 V MAX SHO, and signing up for the Yamaha Power Pay contingency program, paid him $4,000 on top of his $100,000 victory.
“With Yamaha you get the best dependability in the business with the top-end speed to match. Plus, when you sign-up for the Power Pay bonus program, and do well in tournaments, you win money that helps pay for hotel rooms, gas, boat snacks, and other tournament costs,” explains McKinney.
Apparently, his boat snack budget is pretty low, but his heartfelt appreciation of his parents, who are third generation western retail store owners in Marion, Ill., and his gratefulness for reliable equipment, are definitely quite high.
McKinney may be short on years, but he’s already long on tournament fishing accomplishments. Whether you’re a high school angler, full time pro, or somewhere in between, if you’re running a Yamaha, you’d be wise to follow this 19-year-old’s wisdom, and make sure you’re signed up for Power Pay by visiting https://yamahapowerpay.com/events.
