It’s interesting to see a rookie taking the lead early on in the tournament. Martin Villa is obviously a talented angler and it will be interesting to see if he can maintain his lead throughout the competition. The fact that he was able to catch 13 bass for a total weight of 34 pounds, 15 ounces on the first day is very impressive. Lake Eufaula is known for its great bass fishing and it sounds like the conditions are good for the tournament this year.

My name is Tim Hite. If I remember correctly, I bought my first Lew’s In the mid 80s and have had several more still have the first one I ever bought great it’s a great reel. I purchased it from a guy that I started working with. He worked for Dan Coffee Co, and Bliss Merski sales. I have a lot of striking king in my tackle box.

Why are they letting Davis compete again and take away a classic spot from a grass roots angler? I thought this was for the grass routes guys. Doesn’t seem fair. The spot should have went to the first guy out in the natonals not an elite angler. Maybe there is something I don’t understand. Didn’t Davis already qualify for the 2024 elites and classic? Seems like this needs to be looked at at.

to the person that said there is an * next to Hank Cherry for the win should there be an * next to every classis winner when Thrift, Dudley, Scott Martin has not been there. The years prior to Wheeler fishing Bass, where do the * stop. The Bass Classis is the SuperBowl of fishing. Just because some of the great fisherman do not fish the trail does not change that.

Yes! Thank you! I have been saying this all along! I even sent a message to MLF about that commercial they play and the response was “we will pass this along to the appropriate persons”. That’s the last I’ve heard. It’s pathetic and a prime example that they think they are better than the other trails. Wait until states start implementing a catch and release tournaments. I firmly believe MLF will do more harm then good in the long run
