FOOTHILL RANCH, CA (November 22, 2024) – First time braided fishing line buyers might have sticker shock when comparing prices to old school monofilament. But the advantages are manifold, to include exceptional strength, abrasion resistance, narrow diameter, improved sensitivity, longer casts, and a much longer lifetime on the spool.

The next hurdle is sorting through the copious brands and models with wide ranging price tags. And then you’re confronted with specialty braids, when all you want is a high-quality multipurpose braid. The good news is Japan’s XBRAID has the perfect pick in its X8 8-strand braid – the #1 selling braided line in Japan. Although not the least expensive braid in the aisle, with XBRAID X8, you truly do get what you pay for.

XBRAID X8 delivers superior performance and advanced construction that establishes a new paradigm in braided line. Made using WX braiding technology, the XBRAID X8 consists of 8 tightly weaved polyethylene strands, which result in a tight body with minimal stretch.

Built in-house, the proprietary WX weaving machine and process produces the most consistent finished product possible. With a traditional weave utilized by other brands, the line comes off eight individual bobbins, causing line twists and inconsistencies. Not the case with XBRAID X8. The secret sauce is how the strands are delivered off the bobbin.

Beyond the advanced WX weave, XBRAID X8 utilizes IZANAS® strands, which are considered the next generation of Dyneema. The ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene strands offer the strength and modulus of an organic fiber – 8x stronger than piano wire of the same gauge.

We turn to DAIWA Field Marketing Manager, Chris Martin, for further discussion. “Beyond IZANAS being an unrivaled base material, it’s how individual weights of the entire X-BRAID family are manufactured that makes it far superior to the competition. Other companies take a single base material and stretch it to achieve the desired diameter and weight. This creates inconsistencies, which can lead to weak spots.”

Martin goes on to underscore the weaving process employed for all X-BRAID lines. “The actual weaving machines are proprietary and built in-house to create the ‘WX Weave’. In traditional weaving used by other brands the line comes off multiple bobbins. That means an in an 8 strand weave there are 8 bobbins spitting out line.
In X-BRAID’s “top secret” WX Weave, the strands come together uniformly to yield exceptional consistency. Moreover, the X-BRAID process produces a denser weave – 1.5 X the competition – with more material in the finished product. That tighter weave results in a smoother, more abrasion resistant fishing line. The meticulous process also takes twice as long as the competition, and anglers are the beneficiaries of the patient production.

The WX Weave also generates a rounder and slightly stiffer line. This modest amount of stiffness makes it much easier to handle and tie, closer to how monofilament feels. This manageability translates into fewer bird’s nests on the cast, too. But if you happen to snarl, the micro stiffness makes it much easier to untangle the knot.

The awesomeness of X-BRAID FINESSE doesn’t end there. “The line making process concludes with the addition of a specialized coating that allows for extremely low friction, as well as heat, abrasion, and chemical resistance…not to mention longer casts,” said Martin.

FOOTHILL RANCH, CA (September 4, 2024) – The influence line selection has on performance is substantial. A perfectly paired rod and reel spooled with the wrong line massively affects the state of play. For example, if you fish 25-lb. monofilament on a rod rated for 8- to 12-lb., casts will be short and clunky and there’s but a scarce chance of feeling a bite.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, spooling with a premium specialty line that matches your exact techniques and or conditions, and the results are splendid. This is the baseline thinking behind XBRAID’s new Sinking SS112 fishing line – the SS standing for “slow sinking”.

Before delving into the specific merits of Sinking SS112, it’s prudent to showcase Japan’s XBRAID family and what makes these lines so groundbreaking.

Let’s begin at the beginning. For years, braided lines woven with Dyneema® were considered the most progressive, but that’s changing as IZANAS® takes the lead. The ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene material has the highest strength and modulus of any manmade fiber. How strong? Try nearly 8 times stronger than piano wire of the same weight.

“Beyond IZANAS being an unrivaled base material, it’s how individual weights of the entire XBRAID family are manufactured that makes it far superior to the competition,” said DAIWA Field Marketing Manager, Chris Martin. “Other companies take a single base material and stretch it to achieve the desired diameter and weight. This creates inconsistencies, which can lead to weak spots.”

MULTIPLE APPLICATIONS FOR XBRAID SINKING SS112

A higher sink rate clearly improves efficacy for certain fishing techniques. For starters, XBRAID Sinking SS112 offers a massive advantage in saltwater environs. We’ve all seen live bait exhaust while struggling against buoyant line – and most braids float. But spool up with XBRAID Sinking SS112, and your bait is driven down, reducing fatigue on mullet, sardine, pilcher, or whatever your baitfish of choice.

“XBRAID Sinking SS112 also keeps your bait pinned to the bottom,” said Martin. “That’s crucial for so many bass fishing applications, like dropshotting, Ned rigging, Neko rigging, and Wacky Rigging, as well as jigging a vertical spoon or keeping a shaky head on the bottom.”

Sinking line is beneficial, too, when exploring a sizable section of the water column, say with a spybait, lipless crankbait, or hair jig. Add to that crankbait fishing, as sinking line reduces line bow and maximizes a bait’s running depth.

Forward-facing sonar (FFS) enthusiasts also have a friend in XBRAID Sinking SS112. Getting a lure down rapidly to detected fish is crucial, as they mightn’t be there long. Sinking line accelerates the operation.

How does XBRAID Sinking SS112 achieve such depths? It’s all in the materials and manufacturing. Martin talked about the materials: “It’s an 8-strand carrier like the other XBRAID models, but what makes Sinking SS112 different is the equal parts blend of IZANAS® and ester (polyester). Ester has less stretch than monofilament and fluorocarbon – which is used by other brands – and is higher density than water, so it sinks.

It’s in the weaving, too. “The IZANAS and ester are interwoven for greater density and consistency,” said Martin.” Other brands typically wrap braid material around fluorocarbon, which promotes bunching and irregularities.”

XBRAID Sinking SS112 comes in a high visibility yellow for maximum management. To that, the line is UV activated for lowlight fishing conditions.

FOOTHILL RANCH, CA (August 2, 2024) – Hard to believe, but modern fishing was first introduced to braided line way back in 1970. Over the decades, its popularity grew alongside technological advances in available styles and brands. And DAIWA is a leader in that space.

DAIWA’s original Japanese manufactured SAMURAI Braid hit the market in 2009 and quickly gained a following, especially amongst bass anglers – almost cultlike status. True fishing artisans were drawn to its strength, smoothness, and reliability. And now, DAIWA treats those ardent anglers – as well as newcomers to fishing braid – to SAMURAI 8 Braid.

As its name implies, SAMURAI 8 Braid is an 8-carrier braid, meaning eight exceptional microfilaments are meticulously woven together to create a superior finished product. “The tight weaving process is what makes SAMURAI 8 Braid so special,” said DAIWA Field Marketing Manager, Chris Martin. “Impressively, SAMURAI 8 Braid stays exceptionally narrow for its rated strength, and the new weaving process makes it more durable, too.”

Martin noted another resulting characteristic of SAMURAI 8 Braid’s tight weave. “Abrasion resistance is greatly improved. It’s much harder to nick a line when eight individual strands perform as one.”

Additionally, DAIWA added a performance coating to SAMURAI 8 Braid. “The exclusive coating really maximizes casting distance and reduces line noise. There’s so little friction as it passes through the guides,” said Martin.

Another benefit of the performance coating is how it affects the sink rate. “With less friction in the water, SAMURAI 8 Braid can sink faster. That’s important for getting the most out of your crankbaits, keeping lures and rigs pinned to the bottom, and tightening the tether to smaller baits because there’s less bowing in the line.”

And we can’t forget roundness. Irregular shapes with inconsistencies dog some of the braided line on the market. Those are the same ones that cut notches in your guides, too. Fortunately, SAMURAI 8 Braid comes out of the factory perfectly spherical.

SAMURAI 8 Braid is available in nine weights and two spool sizes, 165-yard and 330-yard.

New extreme low diameter X-BRAID FINESSE developed through exclusive manufacturing processes.

FOOTHILL RANCH, CA (July 16, 2024) – It’s often said, “the devil is in the details”. It means the down-in-the-weeds-details are complicated, and if not managed with precision, are likely to produce a poor result. The axiom surely applies to manufacturing fishing products, too. Think about that realistically shaped and attractively painted off-brand crankbait that comes out of the box running like a bottle rocket off the stick. Sadly, it happens.

The good news is that DAIWA pays painstaking attention to detail, and it shows in their high performance rods, reels, lures, accessories, and fishing line.

Japan’s premier X-BRAID fishing line brand vexes over the details as well. And it’s why DAIWA partnered with X-BRAID to bring the world’s best fishing lines to the North American market, to include the new X-BRAID FINESSE.

Quite literally, those details start at a molecular level. For years, braided lines woven with Dyneema® were at the top of the food chain, but that’s all changed as IZANAS® takes the lead. The ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene material has the highest strength and modulus of a manmade fiber. How strong? Try nearly 8 times stronger than piano wire of the same weight.

We turn to DAIWA Field Marketing Manager, Chris Martin, to further the discussion.

Uniquely, each diameter and weight of X-BRAID is produced from a dedicated spool. So, for example, if 10-pound X-BRAID FINESSE is the desired final weight, the base material fiber is 10-pound. No stretching. No inconsistencies.

Martin goes on to underscore the weaving process employed for all X-BRAID lines. “The actual weaving machines are proprietary and built in house to create the ‘WX Weave’. In traditional weaving used by other brands the line comes off multiple bobbins. That means an in an 8 strand weave there are 8 bobbins spitting out line. That results in line twist and inconsistencies.”

Lastly, X-BRAID FINESSE comes in high visibility white to make the line easier to manage and visible in low-light conditions.

WHY X-BRAID FINESSE?

The 8-carrier X-BRAID FINESSE was originally conceived in Japan to fish through current and in deeper water for tai (sea bream). The revered fish is used in celebrations to bring in good luck, which is associated with the tai’s vivid red color and beautiful shape.

Stateside, the benefits of such an extremely low diameter line are manifold. “Bass anglers will love it for throwing superlight jigs, as well as fishing deep with spoons and bladebaits,” said Martin. He notes that the line’s supreme sensitivity makes it possible to feel the bait in those situations. He added, “There’s an incredible transfer of energy from the line to the rod tip. To that, its narrow diameter greatly reduces the formation of wind knots because X-BRAID FINESSE cuts wind on the cast.”

Its abilities to slash wind and provide unmatched sensitivity will make X-BRAID FINESSE popular with panfish and trout anglers as well. “Think about casting 1/32nd and 1/16th ounce jigs. You need a line of this caliber to do that. And trout anglers will be able to gun inline spinners and spoons, not to mention feel the blade rotating and body wobbling.”

In freshwater rivers, X-BRAID FINESSE will better slice the current – reduce bowing – so you can maintain contact with your bait. Walleye and smallmouth bass anglers will surely appreciate this feature.

Martin concluded by touting the line’s breaking strength. “Don’t be fooled by X-BRAID FINESSE’s super low diameter. The breaking strength is unbelievable.”

FOOTHILL RANCH, CA (July 11, 2024) – For years, DAIWA’s J-FLUORO Leader Material has been a mainstay for freshwater and saltwater anglers alike. And by popular demand, DAIWA introduces the economically priced J-FLUORO Mainline, also constructed with premium 100% fluorocarbon material and extruded with precision.

“Made in Japan using a strict extrusion process, this 100% fluorocarbon mainline allows everyday anglers to experience the excellence of fishing with this style of line,” said DAIWA Field Marketing Manager, Chris Martin.

Martin continued: “Despite its attractive price, J-FLUORO Mainline stands above the competition. For one, the formula for our mainline makes the finished product softer in heavier pound tests and stiffer in lighter strengths, while both maintain little to no stretch.” The benefits being manageability, as knots are much easier to tie. Moreover, backlash is significantly reduced, no matter what pound test you’re fishing.

“J-FLUORO Mainline has a fast sink rate, too,” added Martin. Fluorocarbon has a higher specific gravity than water, so it helps lures like crankbaits achieve maximum diving depths. A faster sink rate also lets you fish baits deeper with heavier line, as well as keeping lighter baits down because of less bowing in the line.

J-FLUORO is less visible to fish than other lines, too. “Fluorocarbon has a similar light-refraction index to water,” said Martin. “This can lead to more bites, especially in clear water. And, because fluorocarbon is less affected by UV light than monofilament, it lasts longer on your reel.”

The merits of DAIWA’s J-FLUORO Mainline don’t end there, either… Again, compared to monofilament, fluorocarbon is far more abrasion resistant. It can withstand contact with rocks, wood, gravel, etc., that monofilament cannot handle.

Sensitivity is another hallmark of J-FLUORO Mainline. The line effectively transmits vibrations, letting you feel a bait’s movements as well as fish striking, even in deeper water.

Lack of stretch is another benefit. Fluorocarbon stretches less than monofilament, improving feel as well as hook penetration.

Specific to J-FLURO Mainline, you’ll appreciate the compact spool, as it holds more yardage at the same price. In fact, a filler spool of DAIWA’s J-FLUORO holds 200-yards and at only $14.99. And if you don’t spool it all, there’s a handy elastic band to hold the tag end, eliminating that all-to-familiar explosion of line.

Takes the guesswork out of matching leaders to mainlines.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — While braid offers increased durability and easier management, it can be less than ideal for certain applications and can, in some instances, be too visible to the fish. The braid-to-fluorocarbon set up, however, can be effective for everything from vertical finesse presentations to long casts with hard baits in both freshwater and saltwater. But not all diameters of braid and fluorocarbon pair together well, leading to a Berkley/Spiderwire collaboration to produce new Dual Spool options for freshwater and saltwater anglers.

For freshwater applications, anglers can choose Spiderwire Stealth packaged with Berkley Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon. Saltwater anglers can turn to Spiderwire Ultracast paired with Berkley Vanish fluorocarbon leader material. Pairing the appropriately sized braided line with the best fluorocarbon pound-test with Dual Spools ensures knots joining the mainline and leader hold, meaning anglers can fish with more confidence. In addition to presenting a 30 percent savings over buying the two components separately, the Dual Spools feature a filler spool of braided mainline packaged with a pony spool of fluorocarbon in the most popular pound-tests and colors.

Lexington, S.C. – June 8, 2021 – With so many fishing lines to choose from on the market today, Strike […]

Lexington, S.C. – June 8, 2021 – With so many fishing lines to choose from on the market today, Strike King has made the decision easy – just choose the best.

Introducing Strike King CONTRA, the innovative, performance-class fishing line that is priced for exceptional value. No longer will anglers sacrifice top quality line to find one they can afford. With CONTRA, anglers can expect the best of both worlds – next-generation performance and a reasonable price.

To develop the CONTRASeries of Fluorocarbon, Monofilament and Braid, Strike King turned to world class engineers and state-of-the-art manufacturing, as well as some of the top anglers in the sport.

MLF pro Andy Montgomery was an integral part of a team assembled by Strike King to take on the challenge to engineer a next generation line with unmatched performance-grade properties at an unbeatable price point. Montgomery, himself an engineer with a degree from Clemson, did not take the challenge lightly. “We were driven to create a line that would meet the demands of the serious angler,” Montgomery said. “But I grew up fishing on a tight budget, and it was important to me to build a line that the average angler could afford.”

The result is CONTRA.

CONTRA Braid is the solution when anglers demand strength, durability and handling. Montgomery noted that Strike King’s efforts have yielded a braid with premium fibers, engineered for both strength and sensitivity. “And possibly the best feature of the CONTRA Braid series is how manageable it is on the water,” said Montgomery. “This line casts so smoothly and handles great on both spinning and casting gear.”

CONTRA Monofilament is the answer for high-quality, value priced mono. Strike King used world class extrusion processes to deliver a line that offers incredible strength, increased sensitivity and handles like a dream. When you need mono that makes casting fun, holds up to big fish in heavy cover and is fair priced, look no further than CONTRA Monofilament. You can certainly spend more, but why would you?

More and more anglers are turning to fluorocarbon line for its strength and durability. In addition to withstanding abrasion, CONTRA Fluorocarbon is particularly resistant to deterioration from exposure to UV light which translates to longer life on the water. Ridiculous sensitivity, next-level abrasion resistance, and incredible handling characteristics are what define CONTRA Fluorocarbon, not price. CONTRA Fluorocarbon was designed to the exacting specifications and needs of Strike King pro anglers. This is high-quality, performance-minded fluorocarbon at a great price.

Additionally, as a testament to Strike King’s attention to detail, each spool of CONTRAcomes equipped with a Sidewinder spooling tool for unbelievably fast and efficient re-spooling on the water. Anglers who stake their livelihood on high-quality, dependable line are turning to Strike King for the all-new CONTRA series of Fluorocarbon, Monofilament, and Braid. The monofilament comes in 200 and 1000-yard spools ranging from 6 to 20-pound-test. The Fluorocarbon spools are available in 330 and 1000-yard spools ranging from 6 to 20-pound-test. Finally, the braid is available in 150 yard spools and 330-yard spools with the line rating from 8 to 65-pound-test in both green and Hi-Vis Yellow.

Strike King’s CONTRA Line will be available at finer sporting goods stores everywhere and will retail from $8.99 to $79.99 depending on type and spool size. Let your line be the workhorse, not your wallet.

New for Size Offerings for 2022

New for 2022 are two additional sizes of TATSU fluorocarbon — 17 and 22 lb test are being added to round out the offerings.

Seaguar pro Luke Clausen is one of the select few anglers with both a Bassmaster Classic and Forrest Wood Cup win to his credit. Through his years of fishing professionally, he has learned that details matter.

“There is always a big separation between what anglers have and what we want,” begins Clausen. “That’s why I’m so excited about the two new sizes of Tatsu as they are perfect ‘in-between’ sizes to give me more options as an angler.”

While one slight size difference may not appear to matter, Clausen begs to differ. “The diameter difference between 20 and 22 lb test may not seem like much, but it makes a big difference when you have a big fish wrapped in heavy cover,” he says. “There are also countless times when I need to make those slight adjustments to match the cover and to adjust how my lure falls. Going up or down one size can make my lures perform better.”

“TactX Braid is complement to our new BasiX fluorocarbon mainline, where we’re supporting the millions of anglers who are either fishing for the first time, getting reacquainted with the sport or managing a tight budget,” said Gerry Benedicto, Seaguar General Manager.

TactX is a precision casting braided line with features that make it a perfect choice for everyday anglers. It is engineered to maintain its perfectly round shape and stay firm to minimize rod tip wrapping and wind knots. When spooled onto a reel, it packs tightly without cutting into itself, which also helps reduce dreaded backlashes.

It’s woven from multi-color earth-tone strands that are heat-set for better color retention and creates a natural camouflage color that reduces line visibility. The round nature of the braid gives it excellent castability, abrasion resistance and overall strength with a “pebble” texture to add durability and help it cut through vegetation.

Inside each box of TactX is a 5-yard Seaguar fluorocarbon leader material to allow anglers to experience a braid to fluorocarbon connection with a quality leader material. The pound test of each fluorocarbon leader will be matched to the corresponding size of TactX. The spool box includes a QR code, which when scanned, sends anglers to a website featuring braid-to-leader knot video tutorials from Seaguar pros.

Seaguar’s Benedicto noted, “We tried to make it easier for anglers by engineering this braid to minimize wind knots and backlashes and include a fluorocarbon leader in the box to make it a very user and budget friendly option”.

Available in retail stores in mid-January, 2022, new Seaguar TactX camo braided line will be available in 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, 50, 65, and 80 lb tests in both 150 and 300-yard spools with a MSRP of $16.99-$31.99.

Seaguar, the inventor of fluorocarbon fishing lines, is introducing BasiX Fluorocarbon to meet the demand from anglers who are managing a budget but not willing to sacrifice quality and performance in their fluorocarbon line. “We’ve spent our first 50 years developing high-performance lines and leaders used by pros, captains, guides and avid anglers across the country,” says Gerry Benedicto, Seaguar General Manager. “With BasiX, we’re looking forward to serving the millions of anglers who are either fishing for the first time, getting reacquainted with the sport or managing a tight budget,” he added.

Seaguar BasiX Fluorocarbon is made from 100% custom Seaguar fluorocarbon resins, so it’s virtually invisible underwater and boasts the kind of knot strength and abrasion resistance you expect from Seaguar. It’s a soft, supple, easy-casting line that comes off a reel smoothly for a fret-free fishing experience.

Benedicto noted that Seaguar is in a unique position to make fluorocarbon lines that meet the needs of anglers across the budget spectrum. “We are the only fluorocarbon line company making our own fluoro resins, so we control the process from start to finish. That’s why we’re able to adjust formulations and constantly expand our portfolio of products to offer performance lines at an incredible value.”

Available in retail stores in mid-January, 2022, new Seaguar BasiX Fluorocarbon will be available in 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, and 20 lb tests on 200-yard spools with a MSRP of $9.99

Seaguar® Expands Its High-Visibility Smackdown Arsenal
Visual strike detection puts more fish in the boat. Indeed, keen-eyed anglers frequently describe instances of their line jumping unexpectedly, going limp when it was previously taut, or charging off to the left or right — all telltale signs that a bite has occurred and that it’s time to set the hook. Seeing bites, rather than only feeling them through the rod, requires a high-visibility line — one that can be readily seen by the angler under all weather conditions and during all hours of the day.

“Any application where I need to see my line to watch for bites,” notes Bassmaster Elite Series Pro Chris Zaldain, “like fishing a Carolina Rig or pitching a big worm under a dock, high-visibility braided line becomes a key component of my presentation.” Seaguar now offers the perfect solution for these situations, or more generally, when a strong, high-visibility braid is paired with big baits and heavy tackle: Smackdown Flash Green.

Seaguar Smackdown is a premium eight-carrier braided line manufactured with a high-density weave to give it a perfectly round profile and an incredibly smooth finish. You’ll appreciate those differences every time you present a bait with Smackdown — advantages that let you cover more water with each cast so you can catch more fish on every trip. Smackdown’s slick finish also makes it remarkably quiet through the rod’s line guides and virtually eliminates wind knots. Smackdown is truly the ultimate braided line.

Seaguar Smackdown Flash Green assembles all of these advantages and capabilities into a high-visibility braid that is perfect for any application when strikes are detected not only by feel, but also by sight. Previously available in 10, 15, 20, and 30 lb test for spinning rod-based presentations, Smackdown Flash Green is now also available in heavier 40, 50, and 65 lb test, perfect for spooling onto a baitcasting reel. Combine Smackdown Flash Green with a Seaguar 100% fluorocarbon leader to enjoy the best of both worlds: slick, strong and highly visible above the water; supple, abrasion-resistant and nearly invisible below.

At the recent Bassmaster Elite Series event on Lake Eufaula, Zaldain put Smackdown Flash Green to the test, boosting him to another top-10 finish – one of 21 that he has secured during his storied career. “For this event’s offshore bite, I was casting a big eight-inch flutter spoon along river channel edges. Every time I jerked the spoon upward, I needed to see my line as the spoon fluttered and tumbled back down. The Flash Green color pattern let me track the line perfectly and see bites throughout the entire retrieve.” Zaldain spooled his baitcasting reels with 50 or 65 lb test Smackdown Flash Green, and added a 25 lb test Seaguar Tatsu 100% fluorocarbon leader to minimize line visibility at the lure. “Once I saw the bite,” continued Zaldain, “I had total confidence that Smackdown would help me get those fish into the boat. Smackdown’s zero-stretch characteristics meant that I could get a powerful and effective hookset, even at the far end of a long cast. Many of my key spots had scattered brush and timber along the ledges, and Smackdown’s exceptional knot and tensile strength gave me the confidence to yank some real giants out of that jungle and into the boat.”

With Smackdown Flash Green, every angler chasing big fish with large baits and heavy tackle can enjoy the same benefits that were once the exclusive domain of those fishing smaller lures or finesse presentations: long casts, exceptional knot and tensile strength, and unparalleled abrasion resistance, combined with a bright, easy-to-see color and woven into one of the thinnest-diameter braids on the market for easy handling and enhanced sensitivity. Spool up with Smackdown Flash Green, available in 150-yard spools of 40, 50, and 65 lb test with MSRP $29.99, and one cast — one strike — one fish in the boat will help you appreciate why Seaguar lines and leaders are Always the Best!

COLUMBIA, S.C. (July 14, 2020) — No one company knows more about the science behind fishing line than Berkley®. Decades of research, study and testing by Berkley scientists have produced some of the most trusted lines in fishing. Everything from Trilene to Vanish to the most recent introduction of Berkley x5 and x9 braid have been painstakingly tested to ensure they help anglers get more fish in the boat. The same goes for the newest line in the Berkley portfolio, FluoroShield.

An addition to its impressive portfolio of innovative line offerings, Berkley FluoroShield is a Fluorocarbon infused nylon, co-polymer line that provides anglers with added abrasion resistance while still achieving an optimized casting distance on either spinning or baitcasting reels.

Berkley FluoroShield offers monofilament anglers another trusted line choice by combining the manageability of monofilament that many of them rely on with the abrasion resistance of fluorocarbon. Its refractive index is like that of fluorocarbon making it less visible to fish. Similar to monofilament, FluoroShield has a near neutral buoyancy, making it ideal for fishing spinnerbaits, bladed jigs, shallow crankbaits, soft swimbaits, swimming jigs, and buzzbaits.

Available in pound tests from four to 30, Berkley FluoroShield comes in both 300-yard filler spools and 3,000-yard bulk spools. For more information visit www.berkley-fishing.com.

SPRO Fluorocarbon Gouken Line is Tough as Nails

Kennesaw, Georgia (July 14, 2020) The all-new Gouken Line offers serious power at a reduced diameter in a highly desired invisible Fluorocarbon material design. Maintaining a balance of power, sensitivity and environmental camouflage is the holy grail of fishing line qualities, and the Gouken Line hits on every point.

The small diameter makes for exceptional sensitivity, helping anglers maintain contact and feeling with baits and lures. Although the diameter is small, the line delivers tough-as-nails abrasion resistance for anglers fishing over rocks, logs and weeds. The super tough design is ideal for power fishing and sticking fish with hard hook sets.

The Fluorocarbon also offers invisibility. The line blends into the environment by allowing light to pass through, rather than refract off of the material. Invisibility is a significant asset when targeting pressured or spooky fish. It’s a must-have option in just about every type of environment outside of muddy catfish holes.

Gouken line comes in 150m spools priced at an affordable $18.99 for a high-performance line. Strength rating options include 10, 12, 15, 16 and 20 pounds. The range of poundage makes it possible to target a wide variety of species with the toughest Fluorocarbon line on the market.

Anglers can now capitalize on modern materials and technologies by incorporating the Gouken Line into their regular fishing routines. The sensitivity, strength and raw power will impress the most discerning anglers around.

Meet The New Gold Standard In Freshwater Fluorocarbon Leaders

“Simply amazing,” is what Mark Daniels Jr. has to say about the ‘secret’ leader that he’s been quietly testing on the Major League Fishing – Bass Pro Tour this season. “When you can pack that much strength — that much performance — into a leader so incredibly thin, you’ve engineered something really special.”
Seaguar Gold Label – Mark Daniels Jr.

“This is the real deal,” confirms Bassmaster Elite Series Pro Brandon Palaniuk, who, like Daniels Jr., has been using a leader that only a chosen few have been able to access – until now.
These tournament-tested pros have been fishing a new leader from Seaguar®, one that establishes the new gold standard for freshwater fluorocarbon. This leader is thinner and stronger, with less memory and stretch, plus excellent abrasion resistance and near invisibility beneath the surface – this is Seaguar Gold Label.
Seaguar Gold Label – Brandon Palaniuk
Gold Label is a 100% fluorocarbon leader manufactured using a dual extrusion process which unites a strong, sensitive core with a soft, supple exterior – a groundbreaking, proprietary line manufacturing technique that is exclusive to Seaguar. The result is a double-structure fluorocarbon leader that exhibits the beneficial attributes of each of

its two resins. With line diameters as much as 18% smaller than other Seaguar fluorocarbon leaders, Gold Label is the thinnest fluorocarbon leader available and is perfect for stealthy bass, walleye, and even panfish presentations. “Thinner leaders are always better,” asserts Captain Mark Davis, host of BigWater Adventures, who has been leveraging the benefits of Gold Label for tackling saltwater brutes ever since its introduction. “When I fish with Gold Label, baits swim more naturally, triggering more bites and helping me to catch more fish.” Now, those same benefits are also available to freshwater anglers.

Seaguar Gold Label
Thinner is better — but that’s not the end of the Gold Label story; rather, it’s just the beginning. The properties of Gold Label ensure that knots snug down tight and strong, whether you’re linking Gold Label to Seaguar Smackdown braided main line, or tying a lure to the business end of your leader.

Photo Courtesy of FLW – Jody White

The exceptional tensile and knot strength you’ll experience with Gold Label — as much as 17% stronger than other Seaguar fluorocarbon leaders — means fewer heartbreaks after the strike. Also, with a refractive index that closely matches that of water, Seaguar 100% fluorocarbon leaders
virtually disappear beneath the surface, ensuring that fish see your bait without detecting your line. In addition, because Seaguar fluorocarbon leaders offer enhanced abrasion resistance compared to monofilament, you’ll experience fewer line failures from sharp walleye teeth, or from battling giant bass around rocks, docks, and timber.

“Anglers can leverage Gold Label, with its best available strength-to-diameter ratio,” notes Daniels Jr., “in several different ways to put more fish in the boat. For example, finesse presentations can use a thinner leader than ever before, without sacrificing strength – and that’s a huge advantage in clear water or when dealing with heavily pressured fish. On the other end of the spectrum, power anglers can tie up with a stronger leader than they might normally use, without having it be thicker than they want. Gold Label is truly a win-win proposition!”

“Everyone who ties up with Gold Label will immediately notice some of its other benefits,” continues Daniels Jr., “especially its suppleness and very low memory. I’ve used a lot of different fluorocarbons over the years, and Gold Label has the least memory that I’ve ever encountered. Low memory makes the line easier to manage, especially in cold weather, and makes knot tying much easier — a big advantage whether I’m ‘on the clock’ at a Major League Fishing – Bass Pro Tour event, or just fishing for fun on one of my days off. Soon, everyone will have the chance to experience all of the benefits of Seaguar Gold Label for themselves.” Brandon Palaniuk agrees, stating that Gold Label, “has the lowest memory I’ve seen, and its strength-to-diameter ratio is on another level. Gold Label is truly the ultimate fluorocarbon.”

Seaguar is the originator of fluorocarbon fishing lines and leaders, and leverages nearly 50 years of experience in the design and manufacturing of 100% fluorocarbons to produce Gold Label, the new gold standard of performance for freshwater fluorocarbon leaders. Twenty five-yard spools of Seaguar Gold Label — with MSRP $16.99 to $18.99 — will be available in 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 lb test, complementing the 15, 20, 25, 30 and 40 lb test leaders currently available for saltwater use. Tie on a Gold Label leader for your next bass, walleye, or panfish trip, and you’ll soon appreciate why Seaguar lines and leaders are Always the Best!
