Randy Ables wins American Bass Anglers AFT D96 SC Qualifier on Lake Water

Randy Ables of Camden, South Carolina won the AFT South Carolina D96 1-day qualifier tournament held April 9, 2017 on Lake Wateree running out Clearwater Cove near Camden, South Carolina.

Randy Ables had a five fish limit weighing 13.65 pounds that was anchored with 2 kicker fish over 4 pounds. Randy was fishing the lower part of the lake and caught his fish on a Texas Rigged Rage Craw by Strike King. He was fishing docks and points in shallow water. Randy caught only 5 fish all day and took home $684 for first place and first place option.

Paul Selle of Lexington, South Carolina was second with five fish weighing 13.29 pounds but a dead fish penalty of .5 pounds dropped his total to 12.79 pounds. Paul won $416 for second place and second place option.

Toby Keisler of Lexington, South Carolina was third with five fish weighing 13.23 pounds but he also had a dead fish penalty of .5 pounds that dropped his total to 12.73 pounds. Toby took home $108 for third place.

Big fish winner was Gregory Littles of Columbia, South Carolina with a 4.96 pound largemouth bass. Gregory caught the fish on a shakey head worm around a dock in the middle part of the lake. He took home $110 for big fish.

This day started out cold and fog at 35 degrees and was at 75 degrees by the 3 pm weigh-in. Sunny skies with the wind out of the SSW at 5 to 15mph. Lake Wateree was down almost 3 feet with surface temp in the low 60s. There were 22 anglers fishing this tournament out of Clear Water Cove near Camden, South Carolina.

These anglers are qualifying to compete in the 2017 Ram AFT National Championship on the Ouachita River, Monroe, LA. in October 2017.

The next Division 96 tournament qualifier for Division 96 will be May 7, 2017 on Clarks Hill Lake out of the Dorn Facility near McCormick, SC.
