Kapiton captures first Gator BFL of year on Okeechobee

George Kapiton of Inverness, FL won the first Walmart Bass Fishing League tournament of 2016 in grand style today! He put an even 31 pounds of Okeechobee bass on the scale for 2-pound, 1-ounce edge over runner-up Mike Surman of Boca Raton.

His top prize payout, coupled with contigency bonuses from Ranger and Mercury, totaled $6,000.

It took 13 pounds, 5 ounces to get a check in the 230-boat field. Kyle Monti claimed that last paying spot – 69th.

Matt Surman placed 178th with a limit that weighed just 7-15 but it earned him the Evinrude bonus of $300.

Alex Mut of Miami, FL won the co-angler division and its $3,000 top prize with a 5-fish limit that weighed 17-12.
